To get the MTB season started Timp hosted its annual “Season Opener” at Gooseberry Mesa on the weekend of March 18-19, 2011.
The ride was open to everyone. I was a little intimidated and reluctant to go. I assumed it would be all guys. I talked to the guys at the shop and they encouraged me to come along. I am really glad I went. About fifteen people showed up; four of them were women.

Timp did a great job! We were divided into two groups, one for the “faster” riders – those that wanted to cut loose and do their thing, and a “regular” group – for those more interested in taking their time. It was a lot of fun. The terrain was different than anything I have ridden before– rock. The views were beautiful, the people were fun to ride with, and I got some really helpful riding tips too.
We rode for a couple of hours at Gooseberry.

After Gooseberry we went for lunch and then met in the afternoon to ride at Green Valley. There was optional riding on Sunday. A few of us took the opportunity to sneak another ride in and rode JEM, Hurricane RIM and Goulds.
Great way to get smitten with riding all over again!
